Extending Rural Enterprise
Encouraging enterprise for rural residents
Overview
We're building on the work of the Countryside Agency to promote and support enterprise among disadvantaged and hard-to-reach communities e.g. women, young people and students, and homeworkers.
We've published 'Under the Radar', the first comprehensive profile of homeworking in rural England and the actions required of many public agencies and private bodies and will be hosting a good practice event in the Autumn.
We'll also draw lessons from our work with Women in Rural Enterprise on how mainstream business and employment support agencies can support women starting and running businesses.
And we'll monitor and advise on Government policies that affect the employment and enterprise prospects of other vulnerable groups.
Listen to a BBC In Business programme about how we are working for rural communities.
