We issued a national call for evidence, open to anyone to respond to and targeted to a wide number of local councillors. Here's the report of what you told us.
Panel visits and events
Our Inquiry panel undertook a programme of eight visits, holding over thirty individual hearings and several informal meetings to examine the experiences of international, national, regional and local partners.
The programme targeted local councillors at all tiers, local community groups, local strategic partnerships, local business groups, campaign groups, academics and regional bodies.

We undertook public opinion research with a range of local people to understand their perspectives and listen to their experiences of trying to influence decision making locally using their local councillor.
