Benefits
We appreciate the contribution each individual makes to help ensure we deliver our objectives, and offer a good range of staff benefits, including a generous holiday allowance and child care vouchers.
This A to Z guide shows some of the benefits you’re entitled to as a member of our staff. We hope you’ll value what’s on offer.
Annual Leave and additional holidays
For full-time members of staff, we offer 30 days paid annual leave a year. If you work part time, you’ll get a proportion of this holiday entitlement (pro rata), depending on how many days you work. We also offer 2.5 days additional holiday (sometimes known as privilege days) and 8 days public holiday.
Childcare Vouchers
If you use a registered childcare provider, for example, a childminder, nanny, play scheme or nursery, you can buy childcare vouchers to help you pay for childcare, and the money is deducted from your salary.
Flexible working
We have a good suite of flexible working policies ranging from flexitime to a compacted working week. There are a number of different flexible working arrangements available throughout the organisation, which can be arranged by mutual consent.
Learning and development
We are a small organisation that values the range of skills and experience that its employees contribute to the organisation. It's important to us to ensure that you continue to grow and develop your skills and knowledge and we offer opportunities for personal development ranging from formal training courses to secondments and exchanges with other organisations.
Maternity Benefits
The law requires us to offer six months maternity leave and statutory maternity pay. However, if you’ve worked for us for more than one year, we offer a more generous package: 26 weeks on full pay, followed by 13 weeks on statutory maternity pay (SMP), then 13 weeks unpaid.
Paternity Leave
If your partner has a baby, you can take two weeks’ paid leave.
Pension
We offer you the opportunity to join the Civil Service 'nuvos' Pension scheme which provides a valuable range of benefits, including:
- Defined benefit pension
- Benefits for dependants
- Ill-health pension
Volunteering
We offer a chance to volunteer in anything from helping out the local credit union, working on a one-off event or project, becoming a school governor or developing new skills as a trustee. We hope that volunteering will be one way that people can improve their skills, learn about the third sector generally and specifically. All staff are entitled to the equivalent of three working days volunteering per year.
