The NPIA Neighbourhood Policing Programme has produced a new guide to 'Neighbourhood Policing in Rural Communities'.

5000 copies of 'Neighbourhood Policing in Rural Communities' have been sent to Police forces across the country but it's also a useful resource for local authorities, rural communities and other organisations.

It provides guidance specifically to address the issues that affect rural communities' safety and confidence.

The guide provides:

  • information on organisational issues
  • ways of ensuring rural communities have access to policing through a named point of contact
  • methods that have been used to ensure that rural communities are able to influence community safety priorities
  • examples of successful joint action with communities to solve problems
  • sustainable solutions to problems
  • community cohesion case studies
