Stuart Burgess, our chair and the Government's Rural Advocate, is visiting Cumbria to look at issues and solutions surrounding provision of access to broadband in rural areas.

I would not want to detract in any way from Cumbria's claim to need better connections - but please don't  assume that infrastructure inadequecies are not widely apparent, even in supposedly well-endowed areas.

Provison of services is a problem across the country and I hope it doesn't appear we make assumptions about any area's service provision.

Stuart visited Cumbria to find our more about Alston Cybermoor, a community-led project to provide fibre connected broadband. The visit will help inform our work on digital inclusion, and hopefully provide an example of how other communities can obtain better provision.
