Rural Service Support - Online expert help to find alternative ways to provide services

Post Offices play a vital role in rural life, providing access to services and often acting as the social hub for a village. Over the next year or so around 1250 rural Post Offices are set to close across the country.

We funded Rural Service Support, to help provide national and local organisations with on-line access to experts who can help them plan for the future.

This rural|net service signposts organisations to solutions that may help them identify alternative ways of providing services for their communities.

Rural Service Support is a fantastic, cost effective and realistic advisory service.

I think funding for the project only goes up until the end of October this year.

Surely communities will still need advice and support after this date - especially as the programme appears to be slipping.

Are any of the partners on the advisory group planning to provide sponsorship for the service to run beyond Halloween?  Personally I think PO Ltd, ViRSA and Postwatch should sponsor the service for at least another year.

Thanks for your comment. It would be great if funding could extended to cover the whole period of the post office closures, so that communities can find support and advice to help them retain services.

I agree, however, is the CRC and its partners looking to extend the service in line with slippage in the change programme?  Maybe the project officer could provide a definitive answer !!!

Thanks for your time.
