Business leaders, local authorities, community organisations and economic development agencies from around the country are meeting today to discuss how inspiration and leadership can help release the potential of rural economies.

Our joint 'Releasing the Potential of Rural Economies: Inspiration and Leadership' summit with the East of England Development Agency and South East of England Development Agency will showcase success stories and agree action to help promote the achievements and contribution of rural economies.

The event is the 2nd of 4 summits following the report on 'England’s rural areas: steps to releasing their economic potential' by Stuart Burgess, our chair and the Government's Rural Advocate.

Good luck, I hope you manage to convince them all that rural areas are worth their consideration, we need a voice, and it looks like you are fitting the bill nicely. Power to the people, tell it like it is, the rural areas are the lifeblood of the UK.
O and we could do with broadband too. LOL

Thanks for your comment Chris.
Rural areas make a huge contribution to our national economy, hosting around 30% of England’s businesses. In 2005 these earned at least £325 billion, but with proper support they have potential to generate much more.
