CRC 28 - Calculating Housing Needs in Rural England
This publication is available from our warehouse.
Working with Roger Tyms & Partners, we've developed and put into practice a rigorous and transparent methodology, which can be used to produce national and regional figures of the numbers of households in rural England who will be in need of affordable housing over the next five years, 2006-2011.
This report summarises the results of the study, discusses the strengths and limitations of the methodology and raises some of the policy implications of the findings.
The research provided, for the first time, robust estimates of the scale of housing needs in rural England over the coming years, both on a regional basis and broken down by types of rural settlement. From this research, we suggest that between 14,000 and 19,000 newly forming rural households will be not be able to access the open market in each of the next five years.
