This included a reduction in the Government's target for affordable housing in rural settlements below 3,000 population, which has been revised down 17.5% from 10,300 to 8,500 for the years 2008/09 to 2010/11.

His 'Rural Advocate report 2010' focuses on issues affecting children and young people living and working in rural England, outlining several issues affecting the sustainability of the countryside, substantiated with robust recommendations. The report also focuses on some examples of inspirational individuals who have overcome some of the challenges facing their communities.
